Q&A with Sean Park, Co-Founder and CEO of EnergyX

Could you please tell us more about EnergyX?

EnergyX is a global leader in AI-powered energy optimisation for buildings and infrastructure. Through its flagship solutions, including EnergyX Zero (software and consulting for energy efficiency) and EnergyX Systems (engineering and fabrication of energy-generating building skins), it helps architects, developers and building owners achieve measurable carbon reduction, long-term energy independence, and high-performance design. With over 2,000 projects worldwide and pioneering innovations like the world’s first certified Plus-Energy Building, EnergyX transforms how buildings consume and generate energy, turning sustainability into a tangible, design-driven advantage.

What key factors influenced EnergyX’s decision to relocate its global command centre and establish its international headquarters in Qatar?

Qatar offers a strategic global location, world-class infrastructure, and exceptional connectivity across key markets. Its vision for innovation and sustainability aligns perfectly with EnergyX’s mission. The country’s flexible, high-calibre labour market and strong institutional support give us confidence to anchor our leadership here. Personally, I have come to love Qatar’s welcoming community, safe and family-friendly environment, and the close friendships I have built. It truly feels like home.

How does Qatar’s business and regulatory environment enable EnergyX’s growth and support your plans for global integration?

Qatar’s pro-business environment, including clear regulations, robust intellectual property (IP) protections and flexible labour and regulatory frameworks, enables rapid execution. Access to free zones and advanced logistics supports seamless integration across our global supply chain. The government’s close collaboration with industry and strong commitment to innovation help us advance our strategic priorities while upholding the highest standards of compliance and governance.

As Qatar becomes the hub for EnergyX’s global operations, from manufacturing to R&D, how will the company contribute to advancing technology, talent development, knowledge transfer and innovation within the country?

We are establishing a Global R&D Centre in Qatar to anchor our worldwide innovation efforts and drive advanced research in energy efficiency and building materials science. This will be complemented by our upcoming robotic smart factory, which will serve as a living lab for automation, efficiency and sustainability. Together, they will enable total technology transfer, foster collaboration with local institutions, and contribute to Qatar’s growth as a global hub for high-value innovation, talent development and industrial excellence.

Could you share more details about the planned robotic smart factory and plus-energy building in Qatar, and how these projects embody EnergyX’s innovation strategy and long-term investment commitment to the market?

Our factory will feature robotics, advanced digital systems, and free-form DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) technologies that enable non-linear, geometry-agnostic manufacturing with exceptional flexibility and precision. The integrated facility, which also house our Global R&D Centre, is set to be the world’s first plus-energy building to achieve both Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) certifications. It reflects our purpose to create self-sustaining, profitable and design-resilient architecture, and affirms EnergyX’s permanent commitment through the establishment of our global headquarters in Qatar.

In terms of lifestyle, what do you like the most in Qatar?

The country’s beautiful beaches, cleanliness, and calm, uncrowded atmosphere create a sense of peace and balance.
