Qatar’s sport sector has seen incredibly rapid growth in the last decade as the country gears up to host the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 and the Asian Games 2030. Known as a “sports capital”, Qatar is the only country to have a public holiday dedicated to sports (National Sports Day), which is celebrated every year on the second Tuesday of February. Further to this initiative, Qatar has recently established the first Sports Business District in the region, with aims to create and scope out business opportunities for the private sector and attract foreign investors to leverage on Qatar’s position as an emerging international sports business hub.
Sports Business District
Qatar SportsTech is a joint venture initiated by Qatar Development Bank, powered by Startupbootcamp and supported by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), Aspire Zone Foundation, beIN SPORTS and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI). Start-ups participating in the accelerator programme have the support of the entire sports and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Qatar. Through accelerator programmes, high potential candidates are identified, and encouraged to register, and receive intense mentorship in Qatar’s Aspire Zone, the beating heart of sports in Qatar.
Sport Accelerator is a pioneer sport business hub that brings together elite sport businesses under one roof. It is a dedicated sector within Aspire Zone established to leverage Qatar’s status as a global sports business hub by creating new business opportunities for the private sector, attracting foreign investment, and developing Qatari entrepreneurs.
Ooredoo Nation – Gamers’ Land
In collaboration with Quest, Ooredoo has launched its own e-sports brand Ooredoo Nation – Gamers’ Land. Quest is the first and largest Qatari-registered firm specialising in the business of e-sports.
Ooredoo Nation - Gamers’ Land aims to transcend geographical boundaries through a gaming community that is inventing, innovating, creating, evolving, and raising the game by the minute.

Born online, FATE Esports is a global network of players, managers and creators that come together, to earn some of the most prestigious titles in competitive gaming.
They participated in over 200 Esports events globally, and held many championship titles in the Arab world, Europe, Asia, and North America.
